Background
Shadan Khan Khattak completed his PhD in Multimedia Communication from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK in 2014; MSc in Data Communication (with Distinction) from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2009; and BSc in Computer Systems Engineering from NWFP University of Engineering & Technology, Pakistan, in 2007. He is the Head of Department for Engineering and the Programme Director for MSc Robotics & AI in the Cardiff School of Technologies at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff, UK. He is also the Lead for CSR at EUREKA Robotics Centre. Shadan has previously served as the Field Group Chair for Cardiff Met’s Transnational Education (TNE) programme and as the Programme Director for the MEng/BEng Robotics Engineering programme. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and is recognized as an Exceptional Talent in Electronic & Robotic Engineering by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Shadan has served as the Lead External Examiner for MSc Microelectronics and Communications Engineering at Northumbria University and as the External Examiner in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at University of Essex. He is an approved Chair of the Examination Panel for doctoral students in Cardiff School of Technologies (CST) and has examined a number of PhD student Vivas as an External Examiner. He is also a member of the Reading Committee for the UK government’s Chevening Scholarships and a Review Panel Member for the British Council’s International Science Partnership Fund.
In his previous roles, Shadan has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus (2014 – 2017); as an R&D Engineer at Panasonic R&D Centre, Singapore (2017 – 018), and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, College of Computer Science & Information Technology, King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia (2018 – 2020).
