Dr. Sofia Anwar

Background

Dr. Sofia Anwar is a distinguished academic and researcher with over 27 years of experience in teaching, administration, and research in various fields of economics. At 53 years old, she is married and a mother of three children. Dr. Anwar has made significant contributions to the academic community, authoring more than 140 research papers published in HEC-recognized national and international journals. She has also supervised 120 M.Phil and 20 Ph.D. theses, demonstrating her commitment to fostering the next generation of economists. Currently, Dr. Anwar serves as a Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Economics at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF). Her academic leadership extends to her role as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences at GCUF. She has held several notable positions, including Acting Vice Chancellor of GCWUF Faisalabad and membership on various syndicates and committees at both Government College University Faisalabad and Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib. Dr. Anwar’s research interests encompass multiple domains within economics, with a particular focus on poverty, inequality, welfare, and social capital. Her work critically examines the implications of global challenges such as food security, trade dynamics, climate change, energy issues, and environmental concerns on societal welfare. Through her extensive research and academic endeavors, Dr. Sofia Anwar continues to impact the field of economics significantly.
