Dr. Deeba Afzal

Background

Dr. Deeba Afzal earned her PhD from the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences (ASSMS), Government College University Lahore, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Pfister. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Rawalpindi Women University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Dr. Deeba completed her postdoctoral research at the University of Kaiserslautern, supported by a DAAD fellowship. Her PhD, completed in 2014 at ASSMS, was funded by an HEC Indigenous Scholarship. Her research interests span singularity theory, commutative algebra, fuzzy algebra, and graph theory.

With a dynamic academic profile, Dr. Deeba has published extensively in high-ranking journals and has successfully supervised several MS and PhD students. In recognition of her contributions, she was selected among the top 200 young researchers to attend the prestigious Heidelberg Laureate Forum in 2018. Additionally, she received AlumNode Project funding in 2021.

Dr. Deeba is also actively engaged in promoting gender equity in STEM fields. She serves as the Focal Person for the PIE (Partnership in Equality) UK-Pakistan Women in Robotics and AI initiative, furthering collaboration and empowerment in the field.
