Dr. Sumera Sattar

Background

Dr. Sumera Sattar is a distinguished sports professional and academic, with over two decades of impactful contributions to physical education, sports management, and coaching. She holds a PhD in Sports Sciences and Physical Education from the University of Lahore and an M.Phil in the same field (2016). Dr. Sattar’s academic journey includes being a Gold Medalist in her Master’s in Physical Education from Punjab University (2001) and earning a Roll of Honour for Academic and Co-Curricular excellence from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) in 1999. These accolades underscore her early commitment to excellence in sports and education.

Her professional career is marked by diverse and influential roles, including her current position as the In-charge of the Health & Physical Education Department and Director of Sports at LCWU. Over the past 14 years, she has served as a lecturer at LCWU, managing university athletic teams and producing numerous national and international athletes. Her leadership roles extend to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), where she served as Deputy Director Sports, and GC University Faisalabad, where she was Assistant Director Sports and Acting Director for two years. Additionally, Dr. Sattar has contributed to Punjab University as a lecturer and coach, and represented WAPDA as Vice-Captain for Basketball and Handball teams.

Dr. Sattar’s expertise is recognized globally through her participation in elite training programs and certifications from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). She is an alumna of the prestigious International Coaching Enrichment Certification Program (ICECP) at the University of Delaware, USA, and has presented projects at the IOC headquarters in Switzerland. Her training includes technical official courses and leadership seminars held in countries such as Iran, Sri Lanka, India, Turkey, and Cambodia, further solidifying her international reputation.

On the national stage, Dr. Sattar has played a pivotal role in organizing and managing high-profile sports events, including the National Games, Punjab Olympics Games, and Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Youth Sports Leagues. She has been an active member of committees under HEC and the Punjab Olympic Association, contributing to the evaluation, tabulation, and performance review processes for major events. Her dedication to empowering athletes and promoting sports sciences has made her a respected leader in her field.
