Mentor

Dr. Mah-Rukh Fida

Background

I am currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business, Computing, and Social Sciences at the University of Gloucestershire, UK. My academic journey began in September 2014 at the University of Edinburgh as a Commonwealth Scholar, after which I continued as a post-doctoral researcher at SimulaMet Research Laboratory in Norway. Throughout my academic and research career, I have mentored numerous students in Data Analytics, AI, and Mobile Communications. For more details, please refer to my CV and Google Scholar profile. I am passionate about mentoring women in STEM, especially guiding them in AI and helping them explore the vast opportunities in fields that increasingly rely on AI.

Mentoring women in AI and Data Science presents a powerful way to support their growth in STEM in Pakistan. During my time as a lecturer in Computing at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar, I had the privilege of working with women eager to make their mark in STEM. Despite notable progress, including Pakistan’s high enrollment of women in engineering programs, gender disparity remains, especially in fields like AI. With nearly a decade of experience in research and academia across the UK and Norway, I have witnessed the transformative impact of mentorship. By offering technical guidance, career advice, and personal support, I aim to help women in STEM in Pakistan confidently navigate these fields. My mentorship focuses on hands-on training, critical thinking, and providing access to networks and opportunities in AI and Data Science, inspiring them to become future leaders.’
