Background
Prof Dr Anila Kamal is a 1st Vice Chancellor of newly established Rawalpindi Women University. She is a tenured Professor of Psychology & a former Director of National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-e-Azam University.
She has been member of different professional bodies, and is an active member of many committees at Higher Education Commission (HEC) and different universities. She has been the Chief Editor of Pakistan Journal of Psychological Research and Consulting Editor/Reviewer of many national and international research journals.
She organized 69 national and international workshops and seminars and 12 international conferences. She has published 182 research papers, 3 books and 71 paper presentations in international conferences. She has supervised 70 MPhil and 22 PhD students.
In recognition of her contribution in feminist research and services, she was given Denmark Gunvald Award by International Council of Psychologist, a UN registered organization in 2021. She has received the award in recognition of valuable services to women’s cause on the occasion of International Women’s Day 8th March 2024 from Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry. She has also received Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions to empowering women through education and promoting academic excellence from Diplomatic Insight Group, Pakistan.
She has been doing researches in very ‘bold’ topics in the Pakistani context, including sexual harassment, honour killing, rape, acid burn violence, female crime, hijab, child marriages, domestic violence, sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, child labour, transgender issues, juvenile delinquency, infertility menopause, and mental health.
